Idaho Wildflowers

Okay here's a test for you. See how many of these wildflowers you can name. We found them in the Idaho mountains around Prairie this last weekend.

Evening Primrose

Before my parents moved out of their home on Leitch Avenue in La Grange years ago, we dug up an evening primrose to transplant at our home in Boise. Well, it worked and we've had many years of enjoyment from this unusual flower. It blooms in the evening and the flower literally pops open. In the morning the flower starts wilting and is gone. But it is beautiful. (No it is not a dandilion.)

Here you can see the bud before it blooms,

and this it what it looks like after it bursts open. If you look closely, you can see a flower that bloomed the day before and more buds coming.

Folkswinger Reunion at Wild Dunes

Thirty-eight years after the Folkswingers made that USO tour of Germany, we got together again - this time outside of Charleston, South Carolina. In 1997 we had our 30th year reunion in Hamburg, Germany with John and Pam. Three years later Mary and Craig made arrangements in Napa Valley, California. This year Rick and Chris reserved a seven-bedroom beach house at the Wild Dunes Resort. What a time we had!

Jeanette and I arrived early and stayed a few days with Rick and Chris in their beautiful home in Wilmington, North Carolina. They live right on the Inland Waterway and we took advantage of it.

Then John and Pam came up to Wilmington and we had snacks cruising on the Inland Waterway.

The next day we took off for Charleston and Wild Dunes. On the way we stopped and bought eight pounds of shrimp for the Folkswingers to snack on. But we had to wait for the customer ahead of us to finish his purchase.

Once we all got together, the fun began...

... dinner in Charleston,

... a carriage ride tour of the city,

... a look at an old cemetary,

... a visit to a plantation,

... and finally the traditional Folkswinger photo.

Thanks Rick and Chris for a great reunion. In three more years we will meet again, this time with Gary and Margaret, in the Washington DC area. Til then...
